| I'm seeing this too. It may be related to the .htaccess files parsing things from php to html.

when i searched for "nationals", it didn't come up at all, but more disturbing, there don't seem to be any threads from 2004...........

-B | Funny, I had that problem before the move, then didn't have it after. Perhaps it's related only indirectly to the move.

| Update OK a couple of updates:
1. Issues with uploading avatars: This should be resolved. If it's still an issue, let me know if you are attempting to upload a .jpg or a .gif.
2. Product Reviews: I need to update the core software to the version that will "play nice" with this server config. I have the software and will attempt to set it up tonight.
3. "New Post" button: This is a confirmed bug with the setup I'm using to make the site more "google friendly". I have that fix in hand also and will upload/configure after the reviews section is back.
Thanks for your patience.

| Craig-
In regards to the Avatar problem, I tried using the same gif I had before, and it wouldn't allow that one either. The avatar program also seems to dislike loading pictures from URLs.
I also seem incapable of posting pictures to my album, which is a new problem since I have put pictures in there before.

EDIT: I tried uploading both a jpg and gif version of the picture I want. And as far as dimensions goes they are slightly smaller than the specified dimensions.

hrrrm? | Same problem here. I never realized how often I search back through those old threads until now, when I can't. |

I'll have to close down the boards for a few hours to get it done - prob. over the weekend.

But until now I can't load my customize avatar. I followed the requirement that you have given me. I hope you can help me. Thanks

| Classified sections are currently gone (same board closed message from August giving an estimated time of coming back up of August 24th). At least the message needs updating.

| I'm having trouble with avatars as well, am getting the same error message anisa mentioned. I've been trying to upload the image from my machine, both as a .jpg and a .gif file (each is under 2KB), no joy.
Whenever you get a round tuit, natch. Thanks! |

| Reputation disabled All -
I chose with the updates I was making today to the forums to disable the reputation system.
The reasons are basically that I wanted the reputation system to be some indicator of the poster's fencing advice but this does not seem to be possible with the current system.
I will be trying to come up with another peer-review process to identify more "Fencing Experts" or levels of expertise to recognize those Fencing.Net community members who provide a consistently high level of advice to those who post questions here.
Thanks,
Craig |

It was bound to skew into absurdity sooner or later. ... In this case, sooner.
As for your comments about a " peer-review process to identify more 'Fencing Experts' or levels of expertise to recognize those Fencing.Net community members who provide a consistently high level of advice," I don't believe such a creature can truly meet your expectations. It's far better (if not easier) to let each person's wisdom and experience shine through by consistent examples and general forum feedback within the threads themselves.
A "rep point" badge of honor always carries the unspoken question, "Yeah, he might have said something smart last week, but can I trust him today?"
((Afterthought: Perhaps the quest for a point system reflects the competitive athlete mentality that desires easily quantified feedback -- i.e. everything has to be numbers and rankings.))

| I always enjoyed the comments and watching the points accumulate. I also enjoyed handing out rep.
I never considered the rep to be an indication of anyone's wisdom. You spend enough time on the site, and you get a good idea who offers good advice and who doesn't.

| You know, one of the beauties of creating things, is that sometimes they take on a life of their own, quite different from the original intentions of the creator. Of course, as the creator, one also then holds the power to wack it back into line. And the only person you have to be beholden to is yourself, weather or not you should wack.
Just a thought. But, by and large (not that my opinion carries or should carry any particular wieght) you've done a good job overall with your creation, Craig. Maybe I would do a few things differently, but then that's why I didn't create it. You did.

| On the positive side, Craig has taken away a fun and social element of the forum. I'm sure my productivity at work and home will no doubt increase as a result.
