Array Well, if it makes you feel reassured, I was seeded into a tournament last weekend as a B after four years as an A, and I think the organizers knew what they were doing. Array Heh. Thanks. Just a moment of paranoia striking. -

I have (or had) a C01. I originally thought it expired down to a D05 on January 1 of 2005, but I was subsequently corrected. So had my tired old C01 for a few more months. (No, I didn't manage to renew it.)
Now that the new USFA season has officially started (July 31, right?), now I *really* am down to a D05, right?
Just wanted to double-check before buying my plane ticket to the Miami NAC on the presumption that I can fence Div III as well as Div II
(Now you can laugh. Just answer my question first! ) Have no fear. All C01's are now D05's.

(Now you can laugh. Just answer my question first! ) You're correct. All 4 year old classifications "roll back" at the beginning of the new fencing season (August 1st,) not at the start of the new year.
I wouldn't worry about trying to inadvertently "slide into" a Div III NAC as a "C" fencer. I'm sure the USFA would correct your oversight! Frank Pratt

(Now you can laugh. Just answer my question first! ) If your membership expired at the end of the last season, there should have been a "Correct your data" form sent to you that would have had your classification fading down to the D05. Don't know what happens to three year members in the intermediate years
But in my case, I am a life member. The central office figures Life members are foggy old codgers who don't even have classifications. So the sloppy central office never sent me anything when my C99 faded down to a D. So I went for months until my NAC entry form came back with the unhappy news. One very unhappy fencer after having been in numerous local events.
Believe me, the rulebook explanation of how your classification fades is not the most clear explanation in the world. Particulary if you are optimistically looking for a favorable interpretation. Whoopee! My avatar is back. -
