Well, I've come back home for the weekend, anyway. I still need shower curtains.

Right now I'm at the beautiful, somewhat extremely hot Arizona State University in Tempe College of Liberal Arts and Sciences/Barrett Honors College.

I'm not happy.

I was accepted to NYU quite a while back. I, unfortunately, can't afford to go to NYU at the moment so, alas, I'm stuck in the desert for at least one more year.

Grrr.

Oh, and I found out I can't bring my foils to my dorm room. Or so I've been told. I should really check that out for sure.

I've been told I need to check them into the campus police department ("potential weapons" they are, apparently, despite the fact that my room has four steak knives and a buck knife about which no one's thrown a ruckus.

Bleh.

Well, there's little more dangerous than extremely thin and flexible blunt lengths of metal.

Who told you you weren't allowed to have your foils? If it was an authority figure (ie Hall Advisor or whatever) in your dorm, than I'd worry about it. If it was someone from the administration.... why did you tell them you were bringing fencing equipment? My experience has been that if you tell Public Safety about stuff like that they have to do something, but if you don't they actually don't care and will never do anything. Our official rules definetely forbid fencing equipment "weapons" but I've never had anyone bother me- and I've taken my foil and sabre to college events as well as just worn them around campus. The closest I've ever come to someone bothering me was the manager of one of the dining halls looking at me strangely when I wore my sabre to dinner.
