| why is your primary weapon superior to the other two? I am really in the mood to get some heated debates going. The brief flameware going on in the sabre page was great!!!
Tell why you think that your primary weapon is superior to the others. Or, if you fence competitively in two or all three, tell why you think that fencing all three is a better way to do it. Lets not insult the other weapons, but lets hear your viewpoints.
This forum is about people coming together and exchanging information, news and opinions. Lets hear yours!!!

| My primary weapon is my wit.
It is clearly superior to my other two weapons:
Brute force and ignorance.
If you can't see why it is superior then you should stick to numbers two and three.

| Primary weapon: sabre
Fast, active game involving slashing motions, emphasis on attacks, parrys, ripostes and counter-ripostes. Simple actions, off targets do not stop action, no thinking.
Secondary weapon: Foil
Moderate activity game with consistent parries, second intentional attacks, bait and switch techniques, emphasis on defense, limited target area, consistent thought and planning involved. Combination of both weapons make for a fairly well rounded fencer.
Tertiary weapon: Epee
No activity weapon, distance emphasis, no right of way

| My primary weapon ( sabre ) is superior because I believe it to be so. Which is about the best that can be hoped for in subjective matters...

| Mine (foil) isn't particularly superior even in my opinion, it's just more accessible, as in finding people to fence and people to learn from, etcetera... and as long as it's not inferior, then that's plenty of reason... |

| But...it is inferior.
Seriously, you are all too right about the accessibility point. And don't I know it!

| Damian- I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
Zelda- The Combination of your weapons can be particularly dangerous to those of us whom have seen your picture. (Wow )
Arcon- Go into sabre, Intimidation and attitude are everything.

| Psychology is definetly a big part of my game, but I haven't yet figured out exactly what I do that's effective so I can bottle it, so to speak.
There's psychology of self, which is knowing exactly where you have to be mentally to win. And then there's the mind games you play with other people - this is where I don't know what I do, but Im pretty sure I do something. Maybe it's the contrast between the fact that before and after bouts Im very polite and cordial, but during a bout when we're fencing, I do not like you.
Shrug. Maybe it has something to do with a false sense of security, or maybe surprise by the contrast - in the way I behave off the strip, and how...ruthless I guess, I am on strip.
I fence sabre.

| I'm trying not to start a flame war so I won't say foil is better. Instead, I'll say why it's the best weapon for me, however YMMV. Foil seems to allow for more thinking/ trickery which allows me to compensate for my athletic deficiencies. I, like, Paolo would have to include my wit as my best weapon along with a sharp tongue. That and, as per the Fencers in Town article, I'm somewhat small and definitely vicious.
