    Hello from Vancouver, Canada

    Hi!

I'm from Vancouver and I've been fencing for 3 years. I fence foil and started sabre a few months ago, and am starting epee soon (once the epee is delivered to my house :P). Um, not sure what else to say, I'm not really good with introductions...I'm a lefty by the way *but* could use my right hand anytime when necessary.

    Shady,

Welcome to the forum and soon to epee. Glad you're here, and I join others in hoping you enjoy the site and fencing for many years to come.

Welcome aboard! Now, if I might offer a bit of advice, steer clear of the woman who calls herself Fencergrl... she'll lead you into all sorts of trouble both on and off the strip. You might like it, or you might like to call the authorities!

I'm a right, but I use my left hand anytime I want as well. Usually to do things like carry my fencing bag.

UBC mainly teaches foil but once you learn the basics, you can learn sabre if you want. I wanted to learn sabre so I bought myself one and asked the instructor to teach me We don't have a lot of non-electric sabres though, so it's best to buy one yourself if you're planning on doing it for a while. As for drop-ins, yup, we charge drop-in fees

We have a lot of equipment for foil and some electric equipment though

Hmmm I'm an epeeist and have my own gear... some of us @ Vangaurd are thinking of playing around with some sabres. Vanguard is a foil /epee club (with a lot of epeeists).

I asked because I like fencing different clubs. Is the instructor at UBC is the same @ the Renaissance club?

What's the instructor's name at the Renaissance Club? At UBC, the instructor's name is Brett Lapeyre (forgot how to spell is last name but it's something like that).

Surely this heresy will get you excommunicated?

Will you convert? "No, no, no, no."
Will you confess? "No, no, no, no."
Will you revert? "No, no, no, no."
Will you say yes? "No, no, no, no!"

First off, playing around with other weapons does not get you excommunicated for the Church of First (hit) Epee.

Secondly... I didn't ADMIT to being one of those playing with sabre... I am just aware of certain members of my club being interested.

I AM an EPEEist... don't worry, Inq...I won't be traveling down to the desert and kicking your sorry butt up and down the strip!

Really??? I hadn't heard much about him. I also didn't know if he allows drop-ins.

His website is www.fencingmaster.com. I'm not sure about the drop-ins, but something tells me that he's not the drop-in kind.

EDIT: Oh... RENAISSANCE... I think I might have the wrong person.
