    Director

I realize there was already a Harry Potter thread, but I had a brilliant idea that I think deserved it's own thread. I was thinking of who could be trusted to direct the 4th movie, not just as a kids movie but as a dark and gritty thrilling flick, and I can think of only one director who has proven he can deal with both genres.

Robert Rodriguez. We know he can deal with Special FX, we know he can deal with kids- Spy Kids, etc, we know he can make dark and gritty thrillers, like Once Upoun A Time in Mexico, and we know he know how to stick to a book with Sin City.

    Thoughts?

I dunno... I'm thinking Tarantino. Good to have some humor in there.

Or maybe they'll save him for Books 6 and 7.

Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

I've always thought it would be awesome if someone rewrote Harry Potter as a really dark set of books. Same basic plotline, just from a slightly different perspective.

I remember some years ago a girl in Russia rewrote JRRT's Silmarillion from the point of view of the evil side - it was quite brilliant. I think the title was "The Black Book of Arda" or something to that tune; not sure if anyone ever did an English version.
