You mean to tell me that fencing technology hasn't improved any since 1964??? They still use bayonet sockets, and those have all kinds of problems these days....

I think Donald's referring to the tips themselves...they were probably the "pancake" type back then,k not the flat ones of today.

If I said that, I would have said there haven't been significant improvement, since '56 for Foil and for over 100 years for Epee. As Sam stated, the tips from that era was called by various names, pineapple and beehive were to. The tips were not flat and the tips had cuts to be able to grab better.

Also, I have said this many times instead of what most people say bayonet, say Leon Paul style. All bodycords for the '56 games were a bayonet style, but they were not anything like the Leon Paul's. Camamarri bodycords were used at the '56 games and that style, I consider the best, BUT I do not recommend them. They are expensive and they are harder to repair, but they give a more solid connection then any 2-prong.

I know Craig, I am writing the article on body cords and their advantages and disadvantages.

Morgaine will become famous soon enough
I asked the seller if the weapons were actually used in olympic competition, and he said yes. I'm not really into fencing memorabilia, but for anyone that was curious, he said they're the real thing.
