    Good foil blades?

Ive heard of the s2000 for sabre but what about a good blade, doesnt have to be electric, for foil. As I am fairly new to the sport I have no idea. If you have any idea then who makes it and where might I order it.
Any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism would be much appriciated.

Heh, constructive criticism- I see you are quite aware of our flame wars. In any event, as much as I hate to buy Blade/Allstar Equipment, the Glory Foil blades have held up at my club, to much abuse and hard hits. The cheap $5 chinese blade they have on their sale page is also a good purchase, if you're not a hard hitter. If someone runs into you too quickly, it will totally distort the blade, but the blades are so flexible, they'll go back into shape.

If you're planning on staying in the sport for any appreciable time, then I would recommend going with maraging blades. They're more expensive to buy (about 2x), but they last much longer than normal blades. Try Triplette for some low cost maraging blades.

NOW someone tells me they hate allstar blades. I've lost my flicking power! OH NO! I'm going to have to learn how to fence

I like the PBT Ukraines. They hold up well. If you email Gilbert at fencepbt.com and tell him what stiffness you prefer, he'll pick them out for you instead of just throwing random blades in the box.

When I decided to standardize my equipment, I went to a NAC with the sole goal of selecting my foil blades and other stuff. I settled on Leon Paul Etoile foil blades. I have three non-maraging and one maraging ('cause I needed one more blade and the maraging was all they had. They get bent outta shape after a while, but they've done we good. I have noticed, thoguh, that they tend to get twisted alongthe length of the blade, which causes me to miss some shots.

I wonder if this is the particular blade or general for all blade types?

Almost all of our club's LP foils do the same corkscrew thing. (So does one of our sabers, for that matter.) Having the blade deformed in two dimensions makes point control rather...challenging. Bloody cheap club weapons.

It's not a problem common to any other make of blade, as far as I've seen.

Thanks for clearing that up? I was thinking it was just me.

Ah well...guess I start looking for a different blade after I get knocked out at Summer Nats.
