| NEW ADIDAS (almost Fencing Shoe) also New Balance HT Adidas has a basketball shoe which, accept for the foam and bottom
looks IDENTICAL to the EQUIPMENT High tops model that most dont seem to
carry anymore.
My only concern is that the heels are typical of basketball shoes and
are too high.
So if you cut out a 1/4 wedge of the adiprene foam you can reglue with
p6000 or some such glue and have a nice rounded heel that you can lunge
on.
A few nice things: The shoe has enough traction to be comfortable on
gym floors but also slick enough for metal pistes and the cloth strips.
Tried them at Sports Authority. Also the whole upper is leather unlike
the actual fenicng shoe for greater foot stability.
the 3 stripes are actually ventilated mesh like a screen door and the
arch support is ventilated as well, THRU the bottom of the shoe, that
is. All in all its a better shoe especially for $75usd
Its called the Climacool Getonup(a silly name really)
An EVEN BEtter shoe that doesnt need to be cosmetically altered is the
New Balance High top.
I didnt remember the model. What is important is tha in place of the
thick foam midsole common to most basketball shoe the upper connect
directly to the rubber outsole for a very low profile. in place of the
foam midsole they put a very thick padsded insole which is
removable!!!!!!! so now you can do all that staccato tappity tappity
footwork some of these foreign coaches are having us do without having
to buy different shoes for fencing on gym floors , cloths strips or
pistes. These shoes have the same kind of sole as the adidas...very low
profile and not too sticky but sticky enough.
I dont know about you folks but not being able to get the equipment
hightops any more bums me out and the new adistar high tops SUKK!! In
fact most fencing shoes now sukk. Except for the Viktoria brand which
apart from the cost....doesnt sukk.
Thought I'd share this with yall.
