| A little dramatization Let me be a little clearer in SEMI’s involvement in the Foil timing decision. I was not there, but I heard what happened, so let me do a little dramatization of what happened between the SEMI representative and Roch.
SEMI: We recommend no higher than 10 ms for the dwell time for the box to signal a valid hit.
Roch: Will that eliminate the flick?
SEMI: No, but will get rid of many of them.
Roch: What will it take to get rid of the flick?
SEMI: There is no way to get rid of all the flicks with timing alone. 15 ms will get rid of most of the flicks, BUT it will have a detrimental affect on straight attacks. Many, especially in the higher echelons with the faster fencers will cause some straight attacks to not registers.
Roch: So, 15 ms will get rid of most of the flicks. Well that will have to do. I will let the Congress know of your recommendation for a change to 15ms for the On-target lights.
SEMI: AGH!!!!
Those who are fans of Dilbert will recognize this as a conversation between Dilbert and the pointy hair manager.
