| US Fencers dominate Maccabiah Games The Maccabiah games are an Olympic tournament held in Israel every four years, one year after the Olympic Games. In the Fencing open, The United States dominated almost every category. They came in second place for the whole tournament. http://www.maccabiusa.com/17%20Macca...Open%20All.htm |

| Actually, I think you are misinformed, and the list is mistaken. To te best of my knowledge team Israel is gold in both men's foil events, Or winning gold against Kellner in ind. and Israel vs. USA - USA taking silver, Russia bronze.
Team Israel AFAIK are Or and both Hatuel's, Does anyone know who are team USA?

| Not only that, the page you've rediredted to lists team USA as having won gold at both epee Men's and women's.
Sadly, they've attained silver on both occasions, team Israel taking gold both times.
The U.S was the largest delegation and indeed top quality.
On the fencing piste however, team Israel has dominated most events.

| I suppose that the Ukrain and Russia did. I don't think that there are many Jewish fencers in European countries and certainly not as many as in the former USSR and in the US.
The largest delegations came from the US, Australia, south America, south Africa and the former USSR.
Of those only those I've stated have a decent fencing past and present.

Did Peter Brand really win the sabre individual?? I thought charikov was supposed to be there?

| No. The list is utterly wrong.
For more accurate results go to Maccabiah .

I've had the opportunity to watch Vadim give sabre lessons -- they were some of the most "intense" fencing lessons I've ever seen. |

Then again, the whole site doesn't work well in my browser. For instance, the whole navigation menu on the left is unusable. None of the links do anything, and the movie in the middle keeps over-writing the pop-up sub-menus.

Oh, hey, look at that! the site was build using "Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 7.1" I'm shocked.

And wow, it doesn't even work so well in IE either (IEMac 5.2)!

| I think the list linked in the first post is a list of bouts with USA competitors in them, not final event results. Add to that the confusion that is appears to be an incomplete list, with places held for bouts whose score/outcome was not known at the time the list was compiled.
Or maybe not. Whatever.

I have used every possible resource I could to tease out the resutls, and agree with Peet that Mac versions don't display well although I could download the results using IE, open them in BBEdit and preview them in Camino to finally view what was posted. I could not get them to view in an Windows browser after 1 try and gave up. I have posted what I could confirm for Pacific Coast Section fencers on the Section website: http://www.pcsfencing.com
I really appreciate the help I got from parents of a few fencers there to verify that I was reading the posted results correctly. I gave up trying to get more Americans because of the lack of full information.
At dinner tonight we did comment on this as my sons could not understand how results could be posted for just gold and silver when we knew there were more fencers there than two.
