Array Dual in the Dessert (Yeah, I know I misspelled the header badly. Did it on purpose, to amuse myself.)
Just to let you know: the 2006 website (www.duelinthedesert.com) is up with some information for the event. Hotel is accepting reservations.

Array Interesting. I had heard rumors that it probably wasn't going to be held again, due to some things going on in Las Vegas fencing. I'm glad that's not true; DITD is about the most fun tournament I've ever attended. -

Array Dang! Maybe I will go to this one too. It's within driving distance and I think some of our club usually attend. Victurus te saluto. Corrigia tua est solutus. I, soon to be victorious, salute you. Your shoelace is untied. -

Array I've been meaning to check out a DITD for a long time now, but I still need to check the airfare out. If a little dreaming is dangerous, the cure for it is not to dream less but to dream more, to dream all the time~Proust

Array Feb 3-4-5, 2006. At the Rio, which is a cooler place than the Flamingo, but, is sorta out of the way from the strip. The Rio is definitely a higher-end hotel-casino than the Flamingo. I think the Rio is also all suites. -

Array I attended a couple of years ago- well worth the trip- I think everyone should attend at least once. Too bad more tournaments can't have the ambiance of this one- it's a great show!! You can train for strength & speed but heart must come from within.

I remember talking with Evan and he said it was the Rio. Maybe I misheard. Well, if it's the Riviera, then it's the Riviera. Booking now isn't going to cost you if it moves, as you can always unbook. -
The schedule is no longer coming up on the website... -

I spent a night there a few months back and while the room was (at best) OK, the public areas were kind of tired and grotty -- imagine what many decades of cigarette smoke can do to a place. -

darius I don't know how the Colts will win the Super Bowl, given that they're going to lose in the AFC title game to the Pats... GO PATS... GO SOX! -

Array I've been planning for a while now to attend DITD, next year is probably the time I'll do it so long as it does not conflict with any college meets. Does anyone know where the results are posted last year? Specifically for MS.
I am also unsure how the colts will manage to win the superbowl given that peyton manning chokes against the patriots worse than the yankees with a big lead
In all seriousness tho, everyone knows that the patriots will be the only team to ever win the superbowl ever again. "Their interpretation is, however, refuted most elegantly by your system of radioactive atom + amplifier + charge of gun powder + cat in a box"

Array I predict the stock market will do well in 2006, thereby requiring an NFC team to win the Super Bowl. But, if anyone wants to make claims about who's going to win the Super Bowl, ain't a better place to do that other than Vegas on Super Bowl weekend. -

It looks as though they've redone the website, and the results have been taken down. Too bad, they do a good job with them, even to the pool and DE results.
I have a printout of them for last year and can transcribe them if you wish, but I probably won't have a chance to get to it until Sunday.
If I recall, it was Gritsaev in 1st place and D'Asaro Jr. in 2nd, and the reverse for the money/exhibition round. -

Array What about the Stardust? I heard it's nearby. It's an old casino also, but it may be in better shape. Can anyone advise?
