| Any comments on DitD Just wanted to know if anyone has been to Duel in the Desert. Any comments about that competition? Would you recommend it? I'm thinking of going but wanted to hear what anyone had to say about it. Thanks. |

| A friend from my club went to the Duel.
He said it was great. He didn't participate, but said the atmosphere was incredible.
I wouldn't mind going myself on what he said.
Steve.
P.s. It's a brilliant name, Isn't it?!

| I went last year for the first time. I was somewhat out-classed as an E-rated fencer but enjoyed it anyway. They put on a great show for the finals and it was fun to see fencing at that level. I'm planning on going again this year. |

| I have been thinking about possibly doing it this year. I am from the UK and am thinking about spending a few days in LV around New year.
It is really tempting to do a competition in America since doing the competition circuit in the UK, I tend to end up fencing the same people all of the time.
Still, the thought of lugging all of my kit with me to LV (which would be combined with a trip to see the inlaws in Orange County) is less inviting...

| Guys, if you get a chance, do it. It's held in the Tropicana Hotel & Casino and it was great last year! The event is a Pacific Coast Section circuit event, so the fencing's at a faily high level in all three weapons. It was well worth the trip. |

| I've heard nothing but good things about it from clubmates who have attended. I'm definitely gonna make it next time. Should be a great competition - and the finals sound like something to see.
Anyone know of other tournaments (beside NACS of course) that attract a large number of skilled fencers?

| Duel In the Desert is da bomb.
I fenced in it first time in 1999 and then second time in 2001, and I enjoyed every bit of it. The finals last year were very professionally staged, and even though I can't say I have seen a lot of finals in the US, I think they were one of the nicest ones that I have seen last year. Even non-fencers would enjoy (and did) watching fencing if it was stagged this way...

| Veeco,
If I remember correctly, it's not going to be downstairs in that gigantic warehouse space this year. i think it's going to be in the convention space where people can actually find us!

| Why don't you contact Evan Ranes personally (check the DITD website, via pcsfencing.com) and ask if you can ship your bags C/O him and then pick the bags up when you get there, fence, and then ship the bags back. If the inconvenience is an issue, that should settle things.

| So far everyone has good things to say about DitD. Thanks for your omments everyone and keep 'em coming. After listening to what everyone's been saying I'm even leaning more to going to DitD. I'd probably end up getting eliminated early but might be worth it. Yeah Steve, I agree, it's a brillant name. |

| Also, if you do a search on "Duel in the Desert" you'll find a thread with comments on last year's tourney. (Use the "search" link just to the right of the fencing.net logo/banner.
Cheers,
Craig |
