If anyone is ever traveling thru North Dakota, we have clubs in Grand Forks
and Bismarck and trying to start new ones in Fargo and Minot. We would
really enjoy fencing and learning from anyone. We remain true to the
rulebook, have officially banned flicks in the state, teach the use of the
back-arm, and fence dry most of the time. We do use the 'box' for
tournaments, because the action is too fast for our old eyes. But the box is
over-ridden by the attacker when a touch is awarded that they won't accept.
I enjoyed the topic of endurance and athleticism. We just had our State
Games - round robin of 14 Saturday with 5 touch bouts, and a double
elimination system of 15 touches on Sunday. We like to fence til we drop. It
was interesting to see the rankings were virtually identical in both
formats.
So, welcome if you come this way.
Mike Anson
