Prise de Fer - Summer mixed sabre tournament

Prise de Fer
Summer Mixed Sabre Tournament

When – Saturday, July 23, 2005
9:00 am – Y14
11:00 am – D, E, U
1:00 pm – A, B, C

Entry Fee - $10

Prise de Fer Fencing Club and NEUSFA will be hosting a Liberty Cup style tournament. This will be a progressive entry tournament.

9:00 am – We will close registration for Y14. They will fence a round of pools, the top 8 (16 if the numbers are high) after the pools will fence a DE to every place, the rest will fence a big pool. The top 4 from the DE will be promoted to the second phase of the tournament, (possibly more to make even pools).

11:00 am – Phase 2 will start, adding D’s and under (who are over 14). They will fence one round of Pools. At least the top 20% fencers after the pool will be promoted to the third phase, the rest will fence one big pool. And the top fencers from that pool will be promoted to make even pools in the third phase.

1:00 pm – Phase 3 will start, adding the A’s, B’s and C’s. They will fence one round of even pools, then straight DE to 16 (or 8 if incomplete 16). Then fence off every place.

The format is subject to change but will be announced before the start of each phase. The number of fencers in every round will determine the number of fencers promoted

For directions to Prise de Fer Fencing Club go to – www.prisedefer.com

Medals will be awarded for the Y-14, and overall tournament.

This tournament should have a pretty good turnout, given that it comes at the tail end of a week long sabre camp with Yury Gelman. btw, there may still be a few spots available for that camp. info can also be found on the above website.

-m

p.s.: In case anybody is unaware, "fencing a DE for every place" means that once you're in the 16, you WILL have 4 DE bouts win or lose, so it should be a good deal of fencing for all involved.
