| RYC Events
I am a fencing mom of a Y10 - now Y12 who spends hours and hours each month trying to keep track of the various local, regional, NAC, RYC, etc. events. This past year there was alot of apparent confusion and political manuevering regarding the assignment of the RYC's - particularly the "Super" RYC events. The "who could get points at which events" stuff got a little crazy. The date for the NYC event was changed after the fact, if you fenced in NYC you could fence in CT - but not get points - only keep other kids from getting points, NYC and CA were on the same weekend (not that many people would have traveled to both, but if that weekend in April was a bad one due to school vacations etc - you were SOL with only KS left -which of course was scheduled to occur AFTER the deadline for submitting participation to USFA for the youth Summer Nationals and then of course CT was added at the last minute sooooo...... at any rate - I'm just hoping that those who are responsible for organizing and scheduling the RYC's and SRYC's do so in a more organized fashion and with a little more notice for families that need to make travel and personal plans and will plan to space them out from not only each other, but away from the youth NAC's as well.
