    What is a Pan?

Recently there was a discussion about what a maestro is. It ended up covering that and more, but now I have run into another term which seems to be used as a title; Pan. Most of the coaches that will be at our summer camp have this title. What does it mean?

I found out that a panjandrum is a powerful personage or pretentious official. Could the terms be related?

You guys are so smart I figured someone would know this.

A pan is something you use to cook things. For example, I like to use my pan to make omelettes, or cook crepes.

Sometimes, if I am in need of a hammer but can't find one around the house, I'll use a pan as a replacement hammer. Does the job pretty well, even though one has to be extra-careful not to hit one's fingers.

But I guess you knew that already, didn't you? :-)

A 'pan' is the title of the leader of lost children. I know this sounds sad, but trust me. We are very happy. We fight Hook and his men, and fly. In general have a great time while never growing old.

I've never heard of Pan used like that. In any case, you can always start a conversation with a group of your coaches with "What's the deal with those greasy, dirty pans?"

Okay, I got the scoop. Pan is a title. I was told it means Mr. in Polish. Make sense. The only coach on the list I was looking at that didn't have the title was from Croatia. Gee, I thought it was something important.
