| Greetings and Salutations...emmm...Hi! Greetings All,
I fence in Tennesee and am active at the Club at the University of Tennessee, as well as the Oak Ridge Fencers Club in Oak ridge (of all places...) A friend and fellow fencer recommanded this site to me and so I thought to register as to be official and whatnot. I fear other than that I have little else to say.
Cheers, |

| Replies Dear Heavans I had no idea that there would be such interest in another boring individual signing on to a world class site like this! I am flattered!
and in answer to a few peoples question i am a right handed fencer because I believe in such things as fair play and the divine correctness of right handed fencing....and I am certain a few other highly winded and overtly exaggerated holier than thou reasons...but likely as not the best of which being genetics and a lack of aptitude or training elsewise...think nature/ nurture...that sort of thing.
Cheers,

Cheers, | ...I think there may be a problem - they fence out on the old nuclear trigger site there in Oak Ridge - it's not genetics......They don't need lights to fence at night...
(I live uprange from Rocky Flats) WELCOME, Atreidai

| CANUCK: Yes I fear that the term is used here quite often although I will confess that I have the nasty "Yankee" habit of addressing any group of any size or gender as "you guys..." instead....I have been practicing long and hard to stop the accent encroaching.
And as for the relative genetics or other bonus material from living less than 20 minutes from the world's largest repository of weapons grade uranium...yes it does seem that we fence at night with less trouble...and we never have to worry about plugging in the boxes! ::chuckle::

I love accents.
A friend and I were in France a long time ago and we met some people from England. After talking to them for some length of time one of the fellas (obviously from Scotland) said, "So you're from the states then?"
My friend replied with a chuckle. "No we're from Canada."
"Oh right." Says the Scotsman, "I should have known from your accent."
Without missing a beat my friend replied, "Or lack of one."
This is something I will not forget to this day. Never try to rid your self of something that is distinctive.

| Hah! I never said "Ya'll" until I left the south! Though I do have a slight tennessee accent when I get upset....
I don't have anything clever to say about fencing in Oak Ridge.
And what is it with classics majors and the phrase "Greetings and Salutations"? The classics people I know at Bryn Mawr say that too...
Welcome to fencing.net. |
