Array George Peppard of A-Team legendry was a fencer. "I love it when a plan comes together." He probably used to say that after every hit. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WON'T YOU BUY MY TACTICAL WHEEL!!!???? -

Array Man, I wanna get a picture of Neil Diamond with an epee. In a sequined uniform. With lots of chest hair. (If only Tom Jones was also a fencer.) How inspiring that would be.
Vive le fromage!
(Yes, I know: I have NO concept of proper French... even for a fencer.)
And, "No," I'm not gay. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) I'm not in that kind of shape! "All things must pass. All things must fade away." - George Harrison -

Rick Shellhouse Does he still own Duellist? He is a decent thinking fencer but I don't think he trains that much these days. I really should have beaten him last time we fenced. I caught this morning morning’s minion, king-
dom of daylight’s dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding
High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing,
As a skate’s heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding
Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a bird,—the achieve of; the mastery of the thing! -

Array Fencers are stars in their own right. - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)
- To not recognize the power of the French grip is to be in denial

People might know Jerry O'Connell from being Quinn Mallory in Sliders better than they would him as a little boy in Stand By Me. -

Array Everyone and their damn dog has fenced Bruce Dickinson. Except me. I'm probably the biggest Maiden fan/fencer in this country (Maybe, but I'm probably certainly up there)
THEY ALSO HAVEN'T BEEN HERE SINCE 1992(I wasn't even 5).

I'm not going to the concert, but one of our national TV channels will be broadcasting the concert -- live! -

Array The New England Division has records of an Olympia Dukakis fencing rather successfully at the time she was a teenager. Whoopee! My avatar is back. -
Unconfirmed
Array I thought Molly Ringwald was a fencer. I seem to recall a vendor having a picture of her in full gear at their table back in 1999. I think it was Physical Chess. -

Array Don't forget Robert ("Bob") Anderson, perhaps one of the most famous fencers ever. He was an Olympian and was behind the sword fighting scenes of many movies, including the Star Wars saga, The Lord of the Rings Triliogy, and Zorro. Frank Pratt

Array Here is some info about Olympia Dukakis
(from the Boston Globe on-line 8-21-04):
"Celebrity fencers? None, unless you count actress Olympia Dukakis, who was apparently pretty swift with a saber in her day, winning the New England Championships in 1950..."
Sabre with a lower case "s"?...Blasphemy! -

*feels worse* Sorry about you feeling worse.
I would have loved to go but couldn't get tickets. They sold out in something like two hours. It was the same when the were playing here last summer; tickets gone within hours.
I did watch it on telly though, good concert.
(But I think the Motörhead concert I heard -- against my will I must add -- in 1989 was louder...ouch! ) Similar Threads -
