A native New Yorker, O'Connell is a 1995 graduate of New York University, where he majored in Film and Television. He was also a member of the university's sabre fencing team. His birth date is Feb. 17th.
Kim Catrell,Sherry Belafonte,Bruce Lee Stirling Silaplant (I mispelled his last name) creator of "shaft" Karen Parsons(fresh prince of belair)Ted Lange of the love boat I read an article of his in Black Belt comparing the parries in foil to the blocks in katate(1975)
There was an episode in Tom and Jerry which was based on the Three Musketeers. They were fencing. Attacks, parries, and ripostes. It's kind of odd since cats and mice don't have an opposable thumb to hold onto a weapon...yes, that must have been some kind of animation trick.
Nick Evangelista is a fencing master and author of four fencing books, with a fifth being published in the fall. His teacher was Ralph Faulkner who taught all of the 'golden age' actors; Errol Flynn, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Ronald Colman.
Regarding Nick Evangelista, he's a fencer but he's not famous amongst the general public. Neither is Aldo Nadi even though his name is well known in fencing.
'Famous' is indeed relative and I am putting no restrictions, but fictional characters or cartoons do not belong on the list.
I had Peter Westbook on my list but removed it. I was also considering including the top fencing masters but these are probably not known to the public in general.
Aldo Nadi I believe did receive screen credit.
The other probblem with the list: Should Actors who take lessons for a role be included as fencers? I say yes, why not, (Choreography aside)?
Every Interview I have seen with him (Patrick Stewart), he has stated how much he hates fencing. It confuses him (his words), and he has only done it for stage/TV/movies.
I would not consider him a famous fencer.
Unlike Tyrone Power.
