| Help! Getting form SFO to Sacramento Does anyone has any suggestion about getting from San Francisco Airport to Sacramento today?
My son had a direct flight from Denver to Sacramento that United cancelled due to mechanical failure. (They called at 5:30 this morning.) There is nothing to Sacramento today, not even on first class, so they booked him to SFO. That, or fly tomorrow - but he should be fencing tomorrow morning already. The problem now is getting from SFO to Sacramento. He is 19 and cannot rent a car. SuperShuttle won't take him, too far away. They suggested to contact M&M Shuttle, but I have no idea how to find them.
Any suggestion? Thanks. |

| Check for commuter trains. I was considering spending an off day in SFO. A friend recommended a commuter train that services the two cities.
Good luck to your son.

| Check amtrak. I flew into oakland for 100$ cheaper than sac, and took a 20$ train from oakland to sacremento.

| Wow - that's messed up.
The train would probably be the best idea. The Amtrak train you want to catch is the Capitol Corridor. Check www.amtrak.com for schedules. Your son will need to get to Emeryville (the Oakland train station just across the Bay Bridge from SF) since its the closest station to SF. Amtrak claims that they have bus service from SF and if that doesn't work you can try BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to get to the station. Fortunately, once you get to Sacramento, the train station is at the edge of downtown and he can catch a short cab to the hotel (maybe a 5 minute ride?). |

| BART won't take him to Emeryville; however, if he takes the train to Richmond, catching the Capitol Corridor from there should be trivial. Quite a schlep, though.

Any suggestion? Thanks. | My 2 cents and an an obvious suggestion:
Rent a cheap economy car and drive to Sacramento. It may save you both
time and money.

| EDEW is supposedly driving in each day. Don't know if he'll be checking the board or his email though. |

Call the Pacific Excursions Shuttle service at 1-877-973-8687 . They may
have a shuttle bus from SFO to Sacramento. Good luck at the Nationals. http://www.pacificexcursions.com/subcategory_30.htm

| Greyhound As mentioned above, Greyhound Bus looks like the best bet. I looked at the schedule and they have buses leaving about every hour until 8:30 PM. Takes 2 hours. http://www.greyhound.com |

| Also, for future reference (you know, the next time the nationals are in Sacramento and your flight gets cancelled), always ask if you can fly to Oakland instead. It's a whole lot closer than SFO, and taking BART from the airport to Richmond, and Amtrak from there to Sacramento, is child's play.
