Store in NYC

Hi,

I'm visiting NYC for the holiday and would like to get your opinion on a fencing store. I'll be staying in NJ though, across the Hudson Bay. Any recommendations? I fence in foil and need some new equipment such has lame, body cord, and a chest protector. I'm looking for good quality at a good price. Thanks!

Blade is located in New York City. A number of other vendors, such as Absolute, Allstar USA/Fencsmart, Blue Gauntlet/SG Fencing, Duellist USA, Physical Chess are located in New Jersey, so they may be even closer to where you are staying.

Look at the USFA web site for internet links/equipment vendors. Check websites or call for hours.

Also bear in mind that vendors may be short-handed right now because of Nationals.

Also please be aware that the body of water that you presumably are referring to is the Hudson River. Hudson Bay is a tad North (and West) of where you're staying (hopefully).

Didn't you hear? Tectonics have moved Canada into the Mid Atlantic States.

There are 4 suppliers in the state. FenceSmart is near Route 78 in Vauxhall, NJ about 15 miles west of New York. Physical Chess is in Union, NJ about 3 miles south of FenceSmart. Absolute Fencing is in Bridgewater, NJ off Route 287 about 15 miles west of Vauxhall & Union. Blue Gauntlet is in North Jersey in the town of Saddle Brook(where Rt 80 & the Garden State Parkway intersect), about 20 miles north of Vauxhall & Union. The selection on site at Physical Chess is sometimes limited and trying to find FenceSmart, even if you are at the address, can be a challange (the entrance is from a loading dock in the back of an old shopping center).

Where will you be staying? If it is in North Jersey, Blue Gauntlet is your best bet. If it is in Central Jersey, give Absolute Fencing a try.

We are curently using the salle (Valhalla Fencing) in Livingston however we are located about 15 mins from NYC and my photo studio is in NYC and I have brought gear for people to try out there when asked. Then again..w.e have had people come by the house as well *g*
