| There is still hope for taking advantage of a NAC 40 minutes down the road! (Which is less than I drive to practice.)
Wait... Me? Get a C?!
Nah. |

June 30-July 9 Summer Atlanta | Am I correct in reading that they've added Div III back into the October NAC? It looks like they moved Y14 from October to November to make room for Div III. What made them decide to put Div III back in? (which is a good thing in my opinion!)
Thanks!

| I'm afraid I probably can't scrape the resources to make Miami, so I'll have to wait on Denver at the very least, and I don't know where I'll be in my life then.
Or I can get observed and have my referee rating upped a bit, see if I can take it to where they notice. |

| RECAP:
This is the working schedule for the 2005-2006 season (with corrections from OIUYT and EDEW):
October 7-10, 2005: Division II/ Cadet/ Division III ? - Miami, FL
November 11-14, 2005: Junior/Cadet/ Youth 14 ? - Albuquerque, NM
December 9-11, 2005: Division I/Veteran - Pittsburgh, PA
January 13-16, 2006: Division I/Junior - Houston, TX
February 17-20, 2006: Junior Olympic Championships - Hartford,CT
March 10-13, 2006: Division II/III/Veteran - Denver (most likely)
April 21-24, 2006: Division I/Youth 14/12/10 - Sacramento (most likely)
June 30-July 9, 2006: Division I & Summer National Championships - Atlanta
Notes:
- typically the March and April venues are not secure until once the season is ongoing, and probably will appear as TBD or TBA in the first official schedule.
- for the past 2 years (2003, 2004) the first Youth 14 was together with Div. II and Cadet, and it is until 2000 when it was the last time along with Cadet and Junior, but that was a Junior/Cadet/Youth tournament. OIUYT indicated that it will be along with Junior/Cadet, if so, it will be for the first time for Y14 alone to be added to Junior/Cadet.
- the NOV. tournament was a Junior Vorld Cup "A" competition as in Louisville for the past 3 years (2002 - 2004). So, after the 3-year run, none for 2005?
- the two Cadet NAC tournaments are back to back too early in the season like in 2002, but they also have the JOs in February.
- Last year there was only one Div. III, and this tournament is again along with Div. II and Veteran in March and in Denver, just like last year. However, OIUYT indicates that there is a second one this year at the beginning of the season.
- DO NOT BUY YET YOUR PLANE TICKETS BASED ON THIS INFO UNTIL THE SCHEDULE IS PUBLISHED IN THE USFA WEBSITE.

It hard to find other places in the US with a better year - 'round climate. However, no one from out-of-state would be able to drive; they would all have to fly for at least 3-4 hours (6-8 hours from New York / East Coast.) The USFA has to pay travel costs for many of the staff and referees, making Hawaii an expensive location for an event.

| Three years ago, one of my professional societies (American Academy of Neurology) held its annual week-long meeting in Honolulu during late spring. The attendance (including those who spent most time at the beach) was about 30-40% less than other years. The breakfast course that I was the director had 100 paid registrations and only 38 showed up. The following year in San Francisco, we had regular sized attendance and 122 showed up in my course.
A tournament in Hawaii would be overly expensive for many people. I would predict at least a similar degree of attrition in attendance than the example that I provided above.

| Is there any chance they would switch the locations of the Sacramento and Denver tournaments? It would be nice to go to a different location to fence the Div II/III/Vet tournament and nice to have a different tournament come to Denver for the locals to see and participate in. Just a thought... |

| However, it seems to me that Ms. Waddoups is getting the news from this board as her email looks as a copy of the RECAP in #47

| May be it is because there is no WC in Louisville in the FIE calendar this year?

Lots of East Coast for a change.
-B | The USFA sent out an email today confirming these dates but no locations were listed. Also, it shows the October NAC to be Div 2/Cadet/Y14 and the November NAC to be Junior/Cadet. |
