| Poll: How long does your FIE blade last? A frequent topic for discussion is the cost/value of FIE vs. non-FIE blades. Please answer the poll with the average life expectancy of a FIE blade in your experience. (Foil and Epee only please.) |

| I have an FIE Dynamo blade from 1996 still going strong up very nicely. (And yes, I do fence with it. )
I also have a few StM FIE's from 2003 holding up very nicely. (Yes, I fence with them too. )

| I've developed a habit of getting a blade and using it exclusively until it dies...
I had my coach pick up two blades for me while he was at JOs. I used one of them fairly exclusively and it failed in april sometime. The first weekend of May I purchased a BF blade the night before sectionals. Used it exclusively until it broke 3 weeks later (that annoyed me greatly). Just got two more blades... we'll see how long they survive... its getting expensive.

| I used to get 3-9 months out of my BF blue FIE blades until I switched to the LP non-FIE blades. So far I have five of those, the oldest one being almost two years old and none of them have yet to break (although I am expecting one to go soon) so I don't bother with FIE blades anymore unless I get one as a gift or through some other odd twist of fate. Best of all... they are only about $50!

| I had a couple of "LM Premium" blades I picked up from Physical Chess when I first started in 1998. Both lasted me longer than 3 years. |

| I bought three BF foils from PBT three years ago and they're still going strong. Also haven't changed much in feel over the past year or two. Quite nice. |

| My current blades:
BF Blue: 1 year, 8 months and still going.
StM: 1 year, 4 months and still going.
I do alternate between the two, so neither get used every day. On the other hand, at certain times during the season they do get used seven days a week ... |

| My blades last ages. I have 5 épées and they're all the same - same guards, same handles, etc. - and I use Cartel BF blades. The only downside of buying 5 weapons the same and using them equally is that they tend to break within a short time of each other. Expensive, very very expensive! |
