    USFA membership year?

    I looked briefly at the USFA website but couldn't find the information. I am finally going to cough up the cash to join this year and I was wondering how the membership works. Does it last a year from when they receive your application or do they work on some sort of a yearly calender such as July through June? Probably a dumb question but I have so many of those I might as well get rid of a couple. Thanks!

    August 1st -> July 31st

    I think it's silly, but it works for them.

    No matter when you purchase the membership it expires the next 07.31.xx

    Could be a year. Could be a week.

    Not entirely true. I became a member around April of this year, and my membership won't expire until July of next year.

    They do that for you if you join after april 1st, and have never been a member before (or they don't notice that you were a member before)... otherwise it expires on the next 7/31.

    You're both right (mostly).

    The membership year runs August 1st - July 31st. Regardless of when you join it expires the next July 31st. EXCEPT, if you are a first-time member of the USFA and you join April 1st or later, then your membership runs until the following July 31st. You pick up, as a free bonus, the remainder of the season that you're currently in.

    First-time member I think is defined as they don't have you in their database, which means you've never been a member since 1990, or thereabouts. And you check "new member" rather than "renewing member" or whatever the checkboxes on the form are labelled.

    Obviously multi-year memberships (and lifetime memberships) extend that deadline by the appropriate amount.
