Div III summer nationals Rating(help) Im currently an E02 in sabre, but coming up soon is the qualifying tournament for div 2 event for nationals. I know it's restricted to C and under, and that the winner will get a C. Also, the top 30% here qualify for div 2, and just by showing up you qualify for div 3.
My question is, what is the restriction for div 3? I believe I read somewhere that it is D and below, meaning if I were to win next week, get a C, I wouldnt be able to go to div 3.
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what the restrictions are on div 3 nationals.
Thanks. We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal, and then leap in the dark to our success.

Array Hi Ben,
First a clarification. The winner of the qualifier does NOT automatically get a C. Same as any other C and under tournament, you'd need to fulfill the normal C1 requirements (15+ people, at least 2 C's, 2 D's, 2 E's, with at least 2 C's and 2 D's in the final 8, OR 15+ people with at least 4 D's and 4 E's with at least 4 D's in the final 8) for the winner to get a C.
Div III at nationals has the requirement that the fencer have at most a D AT THE TIME OF QUALIFICATION. If you earn your C in the qualifier or any time between the qualifier and nationals you can still fence div III if you were a D or less at the beginning of the qualifier. So no fears, regardless of your outcome on Sunday you'll qualify for div III (as long as you fence, don't get black carded, yadda, yadda, yadda...., okay, I guess that DOES technically mean that your outcome matters...).
Mr. G. should be able to answer any of these types of questions for you if there's anything I've missed.
BTW this is Brad Baker from UMass.

Well, I was going on the assumption that there would be the required number/classification of people to make it a C tournament.
However unrealistic it may be, I've resigned myself to winning it next week.
I didnt qualify for u19 nationals, humiliatingly, so I'm at least going to have to qualify for div 2.
edit: The below was posted before I noticed your post in the "results from the Nationals" thread. Feel free to disregard, and thanks for the info.
Brad, how'd you do this weekend in KY? Any news on other new englanders as well?
I've been refreshing the usfencing.org website with a fervence bordering on obsessive-compulsive, waiting for them to post the results.
