| Well, machine washing may cause more wear and tear, but the glove should be okay. Biggest thing I'd worry about is color bleeding (so don't wash it with your whites). |

Washable means you can throw it in the wash. It should have a tag with instructions... |

| I wash my purple glove with my whites and it all comes out A-OK. So it's not always a bad idea. |

| Thanks guys you just saved my whites. This is the first washing and even if it is ok to wash with the whites normally, the color will probably bleed a little. I'll stick it in with all of my unimportant non-fencing stuff and see what happens actually, i might put it through the wash with my sweat towels...i don't really care what color they are... |

He said just to "wash" the glove by putting it on and then washing my hands with a lot of soap and water. That's what I've always done. When I'm done, I leave the glove propped up so that will dry quicker. Works well enough for me. |

| I just toss mine in with my whites in the washing machine. It's the Uhlmann one that's mostly gray with some light blue, though, so there's not much color to bleed anyway. (I would be more cautious with one of the red ones. I did turn an underarm protector pink once by washing it with a red t-shirt - one that had even been washed several times before! I was just grateful I hadn't included my jacket in that load.) |

| A small amount of blue will actually make your whites look whiter. A pair of blue jeans in with the white load is a common recommendation in those household-hint columns. I wouldn't try it with the red gloves, though... |

| Machine wash with the other fencing stuff... My glove is white, so I just throw it in the washing machine with the other stuff. In fact, after I measure out the detergent, I pour it right into the palm of the glove and work it in a bit, then throw the glove in the machine and close the lid.
