    I wonder if there are any human parasites out there that we infected on other animals...

    I cant speak to the research in that article, but toxo is very real.

    Transmission is fecal oral.
    (An active infection can also be transmitted from mother to fetus)

    Cysts (the infective form of toxoplama) are ingested by the human, the organism then penetrates the intestine and is disseminated within the body (including the brain).

    Generally, the infection is contained by the host, resulting in the persistence of dormant cysts, but if the host becomes immunocompromized, it can lead to encephalitis.

    It is the most common cause of encephalitis in HIV+ patients.
