| Dunno about the Startex kit, but for my LP Sydney kit, I wash it in warm water (the label says 'warm, permanent press,' but eh), then hang dry. If I go too long in between washes, maybe I throw in a scoop of Oxi-Clean. I doubt you can go wrong with a regimen like that.

| i always wash all of my synthetics in cold water with powder tide, use a cold rinse and line dry. i have used this on all my camping equipment and fencing equipment (including olympia, world cup, and sydney uniforms) with good results. i never use heat on anything with any sythetic material. |

| I a couple fo sets of Startex and wash them after every practice. I wash them in cold water with regular tide. I wash them on the regular cycle but with extra water (i.e. small load but set machine on large).
I know I should not dry them but I do. Low heat with a couple of dry towels. They dry VERY quickly.
I've been washing my wife and my jackets and knickers like this for a number of years and they are still in great shape.
Cheers

R | Amazing. I tried that, but my wife shrank, so I had to get a new one. I learned my lesson though, I line dry this one. |

| I'm not sure what you people mean by washing your kit in "cold" water but the washing instructions on my (allstar) kit says 40 C degrees.
I never tumble dry any of my clothes so I leave them, inclkuding my kit, to air dry in the "fan room".
I've never had them shrink and they still look good after several years.

(Seriously though, I don't know what you would call them in english but I meant the 'dryer room' or something along those lines. )

As for my usual regimin, I have always used cold water and regual detergent on my 8-year old Ulhmann FIE Jacket and Knickers, and they still look great.

| I only use it once in a blue moon, and I haven't noticed any deleterious effects yet. Maybe if Barry Paul is still poking around here, he can tell us whether Oxi-Clean is good news or bad news...

| This is kind of apropos of nothing but---what is with the care instructions Uhlmann/Allstar puts in their clothing? Both my jacket and knickers came with index-card-sized labels bearing the complete washing instructions on them. One washing and hey, presto! The labels were completely blank. The print washed out completely...
Is this a money-saving measure of some sort, of a piece with the skimpy, illegal mask-cord tabs on their sabre lames? Cheapo ink? |

The whites lasted, she did not, so I now line dry only. I learned my lesson. |

| When I brought my Startex jacket I was told by the vendor that the material is very temperature sensitive and if your machine doesn't control the water temperature accurately it can shrink. The label says 40DegC but I ALWAYS wash mine on the coldest setting (15degC) with a liquid detergent for delicates and it's been OK. |
