Leon Paul Sydney Material

Hey guys,

I just received my LP Sydney Jacket and its material has me somewhat perplexed. It has a slightly coarse, plastic like feel to its surface. I've not had much experience with FIE jackets so I'm wondering if this is the norm. Most of the jackets I've handled have been made from somewhat smoother, softer cloth (But then again these have been non FIE) and I've never really paid attention to the gear my clubmates tote about . Hope you guys can enlighten me on this matter. Thanks

Hi There,

Modern materials that are resistant to 800N are made from synthetics that include all sorts of wierd and wonderful fibres. The material used for the sydney jacket is a synthetic that has a smooth surface with good stretch properties and feels slightly cool when you first touch it. The material is very different to that used in non FIE clothing.

Like Alex said, synthetic polymers for gear come in such a wide variety you really can't know what to expect.

My LP Sydney knickers have that slightly "rough" feeling you describe, while my Duellist FIE jacket is extremely slick and, coming off the hanger, so cool I sometimes worry that it's wet.
