| startex vs athens ok, I'm planning to order a set of allstar whites from allstar USA. How much better is the startex uniform than the athens uniform?

| The Athens jacket is pretty heavy, kinda thick. You get pretty warm in it.
Its not bad, however. I'd go with startex if the money isn't an object. I Don't use startex, but I'm sure it's better.
Why not go with Atlanta LP FIE? or Sydney? Cheaper (At least for me it is).

considerably. You really notice the difference with full stretch instead of stretch "panels".
Mind you i use LP Sydney range... |

| Y'all are both in Commonwealth countries, where I suspect LP has an advantage of some sort.
Allstar Athens Jacket $192
Allstar Athens Knickers $112
Total: $304 for stretch panels
Allstar Startex Jacket $277
Allstar Startex Knickers $174
Total $441for all stretch
Leon Paul Atlanta Jacket $234
Leon Paul Atlanta Knickers $151
Total $385 for stretch panels
Leon Paul Sydney Jacket $329
Leon Paul Sydney Knickers $229
Total $558 for all stretch
That degree of price differential, coupled with the assumption that Allstar gear is perfectly good kit, looks pretty clear to me that it's the better deal. Whether full stretch is worth the extra $140? I can't say. One the one hand, I'd be tempted to buy an 800N plastron and a 350N jacket, but the advantages of all FIE gear... Dunno. |

| Well, I assumed there had to be some reason LUDICROUS thought LP was cheaper, when as I showed Allstar is markedly cheaper in the States. |

I have the 'Startex' breeches and I looooove them!
I have the 'Athens' jacket but will edefinitely get the 'Startex' jacket when next I buy a new one.
The 'Athens' kit is supposed to have "stretch" panels. IMO these aren't very stretchy at all. I like the jacket a lot but it feels a little thick until you're properly warmed up, then it's great.
Bear i mind when ordering that the allstar kit has a little more narrow cut than the Uhlmann kit, otherwise not really any difference between the two.
You'll love your new kit, I dare guarantee it!

yeah i'm not sure why he would think LP is cheaper, the retail price is considerably more expensive - i think its worth it for better quality gear |

| Downunder: It is cheaper. I don't know why, it just is.
Athens Breeches: 250$ (including shipping. It varies of course, but I was told (about 2 weeks ago) it is about that price. AFAIK, the euro hasn't suddenly died)
Atlanta Breeches: 225$ (Including shipping)
One could argue about the quality of the breeches, but that's not what I'm trying to say.
And the LP will get here 2-3 times faster. Ordering a single bodywire from allstar is, however, 30$ odd dollars cheaper than from LP. (45$-75$, respectively).
It must be the shipping prices..
According to Fechtsport-Lagenkamp, their(fechtsport lagenkampf) shipping is horrendous - 80 euros for airmail. ( "80.00" ) However, if I ordered a decent amount (IE full uniform) it would probably be ok.
I get the impression that ordering a whole uniform from allstar would be cheaper than LP, but I don't know.. And since lately It's all been bought in bits and pieces, LP is cheaper.

80euro from langenkamp... wow thats higher than what i paid... You've got to sort it out by weight, as there is a flat fee for up to 5kgs:
weight air land
00 - 05 61,00 40,00
05 - 10 97,00 55,00
10 - 20 169,00 85,00
(this is to oceania only)
Land only takes around 4 weeks in my experiance and is much worth the discount if you have the time - but if you didn't you wouldn't be ordering from overseas |

| I'm probably wrong, but it's still alot of money for air freight. LP airfreight is 17 pounds.
