Let me clarify this much, I will helping, but it will primarily be my artistic girlfriend doing it

Hmm...... I still like the diamond idea. Since its geometrical, it shouldn't be as hard to make it look good.

First off, let me just say that IMNSHO, I believe that all the colored masks (at least all the patterns I've seen so far) do NOT look good.

That having been said, if you are going to do it, two words:

    Boba Fett

My very first idea, before I mentioned it to my girlfriend, was to paint the entire mask white, trim and everything. I think that it would look good.

Boba Fett's been done, we've got a Boba Fett mask in our armory.

Still that's in Maryland, so I don't think it'd matter down here.

    Never mind.

Where can I get a colored mask, OTHER then PBT?

I found one before, but I can't find it anymore.

Can someone please advise. I do however, want it to be FIE if possible...If not then can someone still tell me where to get them?

Leon Paul 'Comfort Fit' masks are all FIE and come in a variet of colours. I use one with a silver mesh (I couldn't get one with red mesh to go with my pink outfit as they had sold out - booooo!).

I know that Allstar sells them. Most companies do not take the time they should to keep their website properly updated. You could probably call many of the vendors with this question and the'll tell you what they've got.

As far as my own mask, since I lack any artisitc talent of my own, I've kind of delegated that to my girlfriend. However, you recently lost her grandfather so she's been too busy for me to mention it for a while. Actually, I just mentioned it last night to her. I think I simply want to paint the trim white and the rest of the mesh white as well, something I could do by myself.

I just ordered a new leon paul mask I plan to use for competition etc, and my old mask for practice. Since I usually practice dry, I was thinking of painting my old mask. Shame that it'd probly chip off really quickly(I fence sabre)..
Does anyone know if there's any paint I could use that wouldnt interfere with the conductivity of it? Sometimes I go to other clubs for open fencing, and they fence electric so it'd be nice to still be able to use my old mask if I did paint it..

Not yet, life's been too busy to mess with it yet. I am considering painting the trim and mesh white. In essense, my mask will be solid white. I just hope it will not be gaudy.

Well, I don't know what it may look like. It might look horrible. I just hope that it does not.

Solid white colored masks were the standard until the mid-to-late 1980s. Then it went black. The good thing about white masks is that rust shows up easily, so when it starts to get rusty (especially near the chin area where your breath corrodes the mesh), you know it's time to retire that thing. Otherwise, the look is pretty horrid.
