    Scottish Kiss - How Quaint!

A Scottish kiss (sometimes also called a Glasgow kiss) is a British slang term for a headbutt. And a lovely way to say, "Hello there, old friend!"

    A Bronx Cheer
is when you blow a raspberry or make a Bronx cheer is to make a noise made to signify derision, made by sticking out the tongue between the lips and blowing to make a sound reminiscent of flatulence. The story behind it comes from the US and A Bronx cheer is known as a raspberry, rasp or razz - the origin of which is an instance of Cockney rhyming slang, where the non-rhyming part of a rhyming phrase is used as a synonym. In this case, "raspberry tart" rhymes with "****".

The phrase Dutch courage is a slang term for courage gained from intoxication by alcohol. It is synonymous with liquid courage.

Who knows more of these fun, regional, terms of affection?
Share the story behind the phrase, if you know it!

If memory serves, a Liverpool dagger is a broken bottle.

As for kissing a sheep...isn't that a Welsh kiss? (Sorry, couldn't help it!)

I just want to know who thought up the name of Larry Bird's home town in Indiana... French Lick.

A "lick" is a naturally occurring rock salt formation, frequented by wildlife jonesing for a salt fix. Communities often sprang up near these back in the frontier days. A place named "Grant's Lick," for example, would refer to a place like that which had been settled by a family named Grant. I haven't looked it up, but I'd hazard a guess that "French Lick" is just such a community, and that it had been settled by people named French or by people of French descent.

Yes, yes, I know what a salt lick is. Good for luring deer so you can kill them. And I sort of figured they named it for something along those lines - but there's something rather SUGGESTIVE about French Lick, dontcha think?

Then I think of Larry Bird, and any lascivious thoughts I have just dry up.

    Throw like a girl

BTW, I think Larry Bird rules. The short shorts and mustache are just a result of the age. I have noticed that kids are wearing the high socks again.
