Re-threading LP Blade Tangs

Hi,
I was just wondering if the LP French/brass insert type tang can be threaded with the standard 6mm thread? I would like to use a differenct pommel knob...

Yah....all you have to do is slap a 6mm thread cutting die on it an apply some elbow grease.

HOWEVER, if you're going to remain with a French grip, I don;t think you'll get enough thread before reaching the notch to make a good seat for the pommel, because you'll need to chamfer the end of the blade to get the die on.

FYI all of our epee blades from 6-8 weeks time will be available with a long threaded tang.

Although it is possible with a three chase die. It is much easier with a four chase dia as used on motorised/automatic threading machines..

A good rule of thumb is to have 1.5 diameter of length thread engagement (i.e. 9mm for this case) to have a safe connection.

This is to Alex. Are you saying that one could not buy a long threaded tang now?
