Arrrrrgghhh! Can't find a club!

Why did I move here anyway? I am in Cwmbran, South Wales. Found a website for Cardiff U., email doesn't work to them. I ring the Rec. centre where they *supposedly* practice and the dwink on the phone didn't know what I was on about.
I'm beginning to think they are a figment of my imagination 'cause I'm so desperate to get back to fencing.
Does anyone know what's up with fencing in South Wales?

Don't have an immediate answer for you but the Welsh Open is held in Cardiff every year in November. I've sent you a private message with the organiser's contact details. I'm sure he can help you.

I would telephone all the universities in my area first to see if they have a fencers club. Next, call your old school or e-mail them for a referral to a school in Wales.

If you can't find one, move back.

Okay! I get it, you and your husband are close. Okay! let the others work this out - you should have married a fencer! HeyLa then you could speak fencing to each other - get your gear all messed up together and wash all your dirty stuff together

One More thought: get on the internet and look for Universities in Wales, then phone them.

Mango- My last school was in Texas, I don't think my husband would appreciate me leaving him so I can fence. I have considered it when I have taken that cold plunge in the loo at 4 am. Know what I mean?

BFA has NO Welsh clubs listed...sheesh. Just a contact name to which I have written and gotten no reply. Like I said, it's like they are all hiding from me. Maybe it's pay back for my pronunciation of Welsh stuff. I live in Pontnewydd (it's pronounced PotNoodle by me. See?)

I've got some friends who have contacts in Wales I'll ask around see what I can come up with.

Of all the places in UK you could have landed in you've landed in Wales - oh dear. The Welsh are a nice bunch but there's not much out there. Last I heard Cardiff Uni' does have a fencing club.

Some of the guys at my fencing club know welsh fencers (I think). I'll ask around and let you know if I find anything.

Chilli, I emailed my contact and he couldnt enlighten me except to say that he doesnt know who is running it now. Sorry! Though he reckons he knows people in Aberystwith and Lampeter who fence, but he doesnt know their contact details!

Been there done that. As you can note in my first post I have already mailed each and every addy on that sight. Some have come back undeliverable and some ain't, either way no response. Got a phone number from Cardiff Uni sight and they had no clue.

Anybody have luck with contacts?

Thanks for the effort Zelda. Think I am going to show up at the Student Union with all my gear. I'll wait quietly, yet menacingly until
1. They send out another fencer to talk me down or
2. They send out a cop.

Probably just get vigourously ignored more like. Happens to me all the time. (Don't look her straight in the eye. She may not see us, if we are lucky)
