Cornell University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Educator and Employer.
Cornell University is located in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of New York State. The 745-acre campus overlooks what the Utne Reader dubbed the "most enlightened" city of Ithaca, and is surrounded by an unspoiled, easily accessible environment of startling natural beauty. Ithaca was voted the "best healthy city in the Northeast" in Organic Style Magazine, by Rodale Press, who also gave it high ranking for culture and style. If you need a big-city fix, Manhattan is 45 minutes away by air, or within four hours of traveling by car on scenic highways. Syracuse, Binghamton, and Rochester are all with 90 miles of Ithaca, and Toronto isn't much further than New York City.

| The position is the job formerly held by Al Peters. I don't know details, I'm in no way associated with Cornell. I don't know what list I was on that resulted in my getting the email (perhaps they sent it to everyone the USFA has listed as a coach in the membership database).
Sorry, don't know significantly more than I've posted here.

| Why doesn't Cornell have a Men's Fencing Team? Cause of Title IX (or w/e title that says there must be equal teams for men and women)? Or something else? |

| My guess is Title 9. They needed a women's sport. Not many men's only teams survived past 1980. I should know because I was a victum (University of Maryland). |

| The used to have both. They dropped both for budgetary reasons. The women's team was restored (after a Title IX lawsuit). They have a competitively active men's club team (2004 US Collegiate Club Men's Champions).

| What a change from the days that Sudre and Gillet had their fencing academy there, in addition to strong men's and women's teams.
A warning to anyone thinking of going there: the winters are long and cold. Maybe members of the MA contingent would feel at home, though.
