| Get an accurate pump gun. You won't waste a lot of paint (saving $$), you're not spending money on cartridges, there's not much chance of mechanical failure, and there is a certain satisfaction in the physical action of pumping your own shot as well as in the knowledge that your success is based on your own skill rather than the gadget.
Some pump guns let you hold down the trigger and just pump to fire, but be warned that this often leads to jams requiring messy and time-consuming cleanup at exactly the moment you needed firepower.

| Are you just starting and still getting your feet wet? Start simple. Scrapinpeg says pump, but, most people use semi-auto. Kingman had a good product, the Spider. Simple, reliable in the extreme and cheap. Unless quality control has gone up, stay away from the Wal-Mart specials as far as markers go. If you get serious, go with an autococker for semi-auto. Most accurate semi I know of, it's essentially a pump gun converted to semi auto. It's complex, so you need to know what your doing but it's the most accurate marker around. I got pegged in the head with a tricked out cocker from about 60 yards and he was aiming for my head, not just a lucky shot!

| Yeah, there aren't actually that many pump guns being made any more. If you're getting a used gun, a pump will be cheaper tho.
So, when are we going to have the first Fencers' Paintball melee?

| I've used a few Spiders with some good sights and such, they can be fast little buggers too.
I haven't paintballed in over a year. *sigh* those were the days.

| If you're worried about finances, Spiders are THE way to go. You can customize a lot cheaper as well.

So, when are we going to have the first Fencers' Paintball melee? | I think WORR still makes a pump gun. It's the same as a 'Cocker w/o the semi-auto front.
Count me in on that tourney!!
