Zydeco. I love Zydeco. And Russian choral music. And did I mention bagpipe?
Nothing is more frightening than ignorance in action.

Bagpipe is orgasmic. If you play it in a kilt, it better not be commando.

I have a weakness for traditional Japanese Drumming (and please don't use the slang "jap music" unless you are willing to walk up to 50 cent and his crew and tell them you love that nigger jive they do. People have long memories about words that have been used as racial slurs...). The primal power of that music, with the occasional soft flute leading that building or breaking storm of raw, powerful music strikes a cord with me. It is most impressive seen live where the skills of the drummers and the power of the big drums has to be seen/felt to be believed. Here is a link to some short clips for the unfamiliar: San Jose Taiko

San Jose Tiako is a bit more modern than some of the more traditional (the Kodo Drummers come to mind) but they are the first group I could think of that have some demo music on their website.

    Pauli,

Conoces Mercedes Sosa? Silvio Rodriguez? Pablo Milanes? Inti-Illimani? Susana Baca?

My wife is big into Korean soap operas. I'd recommend them if you like constant twists, tragic endings (someone usually dies) and attractive Korean actress/actors.

I enjoy popular hawaiian music (C&K, Kalapana, K. Beamer to name a few). Not as big on traditional hawaiian though.

I absolutely agree, but if someone wears a kilt, it'd better be the proper way (i.e. commando). What's the point of wearing a kilt if you're not going to do it the proper way...love men in kilts...
Anyhow, african music is cool - anyone's familiar with Soweto (South African) music - the beat just gets to you. Love south american -samba, salsa, marenge, jazz, anything. but, as a european person I do have to say that we do have some good music also - hungarian and russian music (especially the traditional/folk style) is really good; being Greek I'd have to say that we have really good music that can either really put you down to lift you up! And then there's arabic and overall asian music...love that too. Pretty much love anything apart from really heavy metal...

Bluegrass, especially with lots of banjo.
