The beer is Löwenbrau. Not quite the same thing.
    • Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)
    • To not recognize the power of the French grip is to be in denial

Which, I believe, was brewed, manufactured, and marketed only in the US. It was a US brand with a foreign sounding name to try to capture the foreign beer market, hoping to steal some Heineken consumers.

No sabre fencers, until me. Foilists and epeeists.

I don't think this is right. Lowenbrau was widely available in Southern Germany when I lived there in the early 1970's. Their web site (German and Italian only) gives the history of this Bavarian brewery back to 1383.
Your life is not a prize you get at the end of it. But I did get a champagne sabre for my birthday.

Loewenbraeu (too lazy to do the umlauts...) is actually a Bavarian beer. It is, however (correct me if I'm wrong) brewed and distributed under license by Miller for the US market.

Lowenbrau is a German beer that has its roots in a Bavarian Brewery located in Munich where it was still available two years ago when I was there.
