| I'm not a horse person and really don't give a cr*p about the Kentucky Derby, but I do like the name of Bellamy Road. Bellamy Road is a VERY old road in north Florida and some of it is still in existence. One of the very coolest parts of it is where it crosses the Santa Fe River. The Santa Fe river flows into a large sinkhole and flows underground for a few miles and then comes back up in a myriad of seeps. The old Bellamy Road "crosses" the Santa Fe River in between the sinkhole and the "river rise" downstream. All of this is protected in a state park (Oleno State Park).
Anyway, the horse Bellamy Road was bred near Alachua, FL and the old Bellamy Road went very close to there.
Being from Gainesville, FL (in between Alachua and Ocala) I have done MANY bike rides through the horse farm country north of Ocala. It is a very beautiful area and the bike riding is special.
