    Favero Full-arm 05: troubleshooting

My coach just got a couple new Favero Full-Arm 05 scoring machines, updated with the latest chips, etc.

We haven't been able to figure out how to enable the "special control [that] prevents the annoying continuous noise that occurs in sabre and foil when the fencers are not connected," however.

Is there a switch/button we're supposed to hit? When we turn them on they still buzz and light-up just like our old machine until the foilists hook-up.

(BTW, I did "RTFM." I also looked at the Favero website, and searched for a previous thread in the forum already.)

Can anyone help us? Thanks in advance.

All you can do is turn the volume down. I don't think you can turn it off altogether.

Or switch it to epee while hooking up.

Favero specifically advertises that feature, though. It's one of the selling points. There must be something we're missing.

    i've seen it... bloody useful.

I'm not sure how to run it tho. I'll have a look at a club box next week if you like.

Our new machine does that as well. It has the capabiliy of old time or new timing. I am thinking that it does not do this function in the "Jun" mode (i.e. new timing)

    I'tt try it next week

Apparently the "control" is simply a timeout:

To prevent the annoying continuous noise that occurs in the sabre and the foil when the fencers are not connected, the programme inhibits the sound after a set period of time from when both weapons have been disconnected. Also the white lights are switched off to limit consumption. As soon as a weapon is connected, the signals appear again.

And whatever the "set period of time" is, it's far too long.

Usually, the box has to go for a minute when both sides are unhooked then it will do a quick little chirp. If one side is unhooked, it'll beep constantly.

    I hope this helps.
