Was my impression. I'm sort of picturing the following:

"SWMEpee (27) seeks sensitive S/DWFfoil/epee (25-30) who enjoys Uhlmann, romanctic dinners, and long lunges on the piste. No Estoc users need apply."

SWM (27) seeks sensitive S/DWFF (25-30) who enjoys late nights at the club, putting off of responsibilities for fencing, and the willingness to spend large amounts of time and money for a sport that will never get you anywhere. No sabereurs need apply.

I think the tournament and trading post sections are fine as is. The help wanted section is an interesting idea, though.

That's redundant. You meant to say "No Sabreuses need apply."

    fencing for kids

    Gentlemen,

This message describes a problem and offers an equipment-solution.

I am the Coach/G.M. of the SaEF Fencing Clubs of S.E. Massachusetts, USA. After having come to the conclusion that 8-10 year olds simply cannot learn well neither Epee nor Foil, I have begun concentrating on Sabre for this age group. I found that the children misuse and abuse both themselves and their metal weapons to the point that accidents and painful actions are all too frequent.

In searching for a solution to this problem I noticed that some vendors offer a foam weapon. I tried it and found it both useless and ridiculous.

I have therefore designed and created a better solution, which I call a KSabre, (for Kids' Sabre). It is a sturdy plastic, short Sabre, bent in cutlass shape, with a large foam sabre-like guard. Over the past two years, the "weapons" survived several 30 hour classes (in the hands of 8-10 year olds!!) with merely less than 5% breakage. ALL breakages made the weapon useless, not dangerous in any way. The SabreK course taught is classical Sabre in all respects, other than that the weapon is the KSabre.

Rules include that no weapon may be used without wearing fencing masks, without work gloves on both hands, and without a street jacket worn frontside-back (or a fencing jacket).

I would like now to offer this weapon to the world, and am seeking distributors, retailers, and end customers. Suggested retail price is $20, $16 for Clubs, $11 for distributors.

    If interested, please reply to:

I've changed the trading post link to the new classifieds section. Have fun.
