| season/ratings ok, was just curious:
1. does the official fencing "season" end with the national championships in july?? if so, how come ratings aren't season specific?? i mean, a D earned january of last year is still D04 just as a D earned in october but there are two different "seasons" which means this should affect how tournaments are seeded with one being an "older" D or does it not really matter??
2. lets say i earned a B03 but quit fencing a year later in '04 and not renew my USFA membership at all for the next 5 years. if i decide to start fencing again and get membership, will i be a C07 or will i start from scratch since i had no membership for 5 years?? |

I guess they want to make it easier for tournament organizers.
I beleive that your ranking carries over whether you keep your membership or not, but wait for someone important to tell you that. |

| for number one
Nationals....and the end of the season are a week event, and thus can only be held in the Summer...so that's why the season ends in the Summer. Ratings being seasons specific would just, in general, be confusing....to say I'm a A04-05 or I'm an E99-00 would just be a pain.
I dunno about number 2 |

| Consider also that the Senior Worlds are around October and Junior/Cadet Worlds are in early spring. A calendar year is the most convient, unless you wanted several different year ends.
