Well, it's a badge of courage, a badge of honor, a commiseration. When you get married, you find out that you are fallible, and this teaches you humility and discretion. When you have children, you find that there hidden depths to yourself that you had never imagined, like that 30 minutes of Un-by-God-interrupted sleep is more desirable than sex. You also learn that you are fallible, that your words of wisdom are not always believed, and this teaches you humility, discretion, and abdication.

When you have learned these truths, you will transcend to true manhood and be ready for the rest of your life's activity. And this is known as a "hobby".

I agree totally; however, having seen enough 'parents' inside and outside my office, I will say this: unfortunately, having children doesn't always mean that you become selfless and attain 'humility, discretion, and abdication.' If anything, some people become more selfish, pompous a***s who blame their kids for any (if not all) of their mistakes in life (pre- and post-childbearing).

I think because men have a more noticeable physiological response that happens at the same time as the neurological response that occurs in the brain, they miss that it is two separate responses.

Women don’t have that problem, so they are much more aware of their neurological response and focus on it.

Unfortunately you are quite correct - bad parents and worthless people are common.

However, my primary message in my post was that when a Man marries, he finds out that he is "wrong". The information may not be conveyed so succinctly as this, in fact the description and explanation may be verbose, but that is the bottom line. When that Man has kids, he finds out that he is more "wrong". In fact, the more kids he has, the less credibility he has.
