| Meet your match! Okay, on the fencing.net board, who would you say is your match, skill wise, in your chosen weapon.
For me, I'd say glowstix.

| Army, a shooting match? M-16s or M-4s, your choice. |

| Hmm... I'm a much better archer than fencer, and I know Ess does archery - but he never said if it's traditional or that wussy kind that needs sights, silly bows with pulleys... And Great Bowyer has a name that suggests he knows his way around sharp projectiles...

| As far as fencing skills, I would guess, just by looking at board info that it would be glowstix for me as well. We have the same rating in foil and epee, have been fencing for around the same amount of time and we both drive about the same crazy distance for good practice.
For bows, I am a huge recurve fan.
Soldier, if Army declines I would not mind an excuse to get some trigger time in. I was qualified EM with the 16 and M9 and cross qualified on the G3, Steyr F88 and FN L1a1. I never got to play with the M4 (I actually don't thinkit had entered service when I was around, at least for anyone other than spec ops guys) and since I have very long arms I doubt I would care for it much. I always had to stick a 1" recoil pad on the 16 to get a good site picture. Considering that I haven't shot anything in like 8 years I don't doubt that you would win, but it would be fun to have the excuse!

| Considering I've only actually had twenty rounds with an M-16 (though I'm generally good with rifles), it should be a good match! Of course, Dad won a base-wide M-16 competition a few years ago, his first time picking one up...
And if nothing else, yes, it's trigger time! |

| I'd guess in Epee, telkanuru is about my match

| I was on the varsity shooting teams for my military school and my college, pistol & rifle. Competed again for fun a couple years ago with an unfamiliar weapon and wound up winning, though I doubt my skills are what they once were. So count me in on the shooting gallery!

I even chop the trees down myself and use hand tools to make them.

To hell with the spotted owls. Let them nest in Soldier's room with the chickens.

Anyway, I thought the idea was to go up against one's (roughly) equal? I very much doubt I could match your shooting. |

| Cool! Now I just have to get myself and a battle rifle to CO! I guess if I borrowed a friends Les Baer NRA match rifle that would be kind of cheating? It is built on a AR15/M16 receiver!

| Funny thread idea, at least before it got hijacked by the "fearless compensators".
Wouldn't it be more fun to do it more like American Idol - Fencing Cage Match Edition.
Pick someone who you assume to be of roughly equal skill and then vote the winner. (I hereby recuse myself from selection)

Let them nest in Soldier's room with the chickens. | Port Orford would hardly be traditional with english yew seeing as how it's only grown in the American northwest, but regardless, I don't make arrows to go with the bows yet. If I ever get my hands on a nice straight piece of yew, I'll keep you in mind while I work it. Hell, since we're roughly in the same part of the country you might even get to shoot it one day. Somehow I doubt I'll ever get the wood though, I'm too cheap to buy it. I only use what I cut down myself or what I can trade for. So for now it'll have to be ash, hickory, and oak. And besides, you'd probably tear me up in that competition. My wife would be the better competitor for you.
