Some of us already knew that. (Even part of Ireland is, isn't it? Hey, wait, weren't YOU guys part of Britain, too?) Yes, yes, and Gerard Butler is a Scot. I certainly don't hold that against him.
But anyway, yes, the Bond character needs to be British. Like they're going to let some other national be their main spook? It's just a lovely coincidence that so many appropriate actors hail from that general area, or at least they can pull off the accent. Unlike Lambert in "Highlander," or Connery's silly make-up and accent as Ramirez.
