Parries? You're an Epee fencer, m'boy - you don't need 'em

((Besides, don't you have a coach? This is not the kind of thing that owuld be easy to explain over the internet ))

Welcome to fencing. The best way to learn is through a coach, but in a pinch, a book will show you the basics. I'm afraid explaining parries is a little difficult, but I'll give it a shot. I'll just give you the four basic supinated parries since that is what you would start with normally. They are quarte, sixte, septime, and octave (or 4,6,7,8).
4. from the en guard you will move your weapon laterally closing your inside high line (that means move it to the left if you are a right hander).
6. opposite of 4. You move your blade laterally to close your outside high line.
7. move your blade to the side and down slightly to close your inside low line.
8. opposite of 7. Move your blade to close the outside low line.
During all of these parries your hand is supinated slightly.
