    Uhlmann Uniform

Does anyone have pictures of the Uhlmann "World Cup" sabre jacket, or can you tell me how it is different from the standard? I would imagine that this jacket stops at the waist, but I have not been able to locate any pictures of it.

    Sabre jacket?
Do you mean the fencing jacket or the Uhlmann Sabe lamé?

You might like to try and have a look at the Uhlmann website...

They also have their size table there.

    Edit:
Here's a pic of the Uhlmann 'World Cup' jacket featured on the Fechtsport-Langenkamp website.

Note: This is an old pic as it's the old Uhlmann patch on the jacket. I'm not sure the design has changed much since then, you'd have to find out yourself.

    Best of luck.

I would not think there is any difference for the saber jacket as opposed to any of the others. A while ago the rules were changed so that the crotch strap became mandatory for all fencing jackets. Before that saber jackets had a normal straight bottom area like a regular street wear jacket. This is probably what they mean. Maybe they sell the old style for countries that did not follow the change or for classical fencers? They still sell Italian grips after all so at least for the German market they may try to cater to the classical fencing set a bit.

Yeah, if you look at Uhlmann's website, they have the standard World Cup jacket and then they have a World Cup jacket with sabre in parenthesis. It must be that they still sell some of the old jackets. I was not aware of the rule requiring the crotch strap, that is too bad, I wanted to get rid of mine .

m25.4 specifies (among other things) that "at épée the fencer is required to wear a regulation jacket, which must cover the whole of the surface of the trunk."

No similar comment is included for foil or sabre that I found, although I also did not find anything specifically stating that a waist-length jacket is legal in sabre.

Both foil and saber lames are required to have a strap that passes between the legs (m28 and m34), so even if you wear a traditional saber jacket your lame will still require a crotch strap.

yeah i know that, it prevents the lame from riding up and decreasing your target area.

Right, but that doesn't say anything about the jacket itself needing a strap. No question that the lame requires one.
