    lefty woes

we have had only one lefty in our club and he is quite good. recently a lefty beginner joined us, and i hawe found it difficult to score on her (fencingwise ..... ha ha).... it's not that i'm not executing the moves correctly, it just seems to be that my touches don't register when they connect. i suspect it is an angulation problem of some kind .... any comments?

    Hi
So,are you asking because you are getting a hit with a bend and still not registering a touch? First, make sure you hit tip first. If that does not work you may have a bad weapon. Or you may not have the barrel/ weak of blade properly insulated and your weapon grounds out. Or you could need a few lessons on how to deal with lefties.......Ask your coach about that.

I'm usually really good at fencing lefties, but last saturday I was having weapons problems. The armoror put a new spring in or something, and I swear I would hit the guy 3 or 4 times in a row and my light wouldn't go off. We'd test, and it'd work, but in the bout my tip just wouldn't depress. I even lost to a rightie who was just a beginner. I could just be growing sloppy. I blame it on the new spring in my sword though.

Just remember the lefty is mirror image of yourself, best way to beat them is to study their style. Also get some lefty hand lessons.
