| Hello from a new member A couple of years ago I read Richard Cohen's book, By the Sword, which renewed my intererest in fencing after a period of 40 years. (At 57 perhaps I'm the oldest on this board). Then, recently, I saw a film clip of Peter Westbrook in the 1984 Olympic sabre finals which has sparked some kind of an obsession. I'm not sure how long it will last, but if it continues I will join my local club, the Silver Blades in Sparks Nevada.
Nice to meet you all, you seem very interesting and enjoyable to become acquainted with.

| Jim, welcome to the board. I hope you are satisfied with your renewed obsession with fencing and enjoy getting to know the weird and nice people who post here. As for your age: you are at best tied for eldest with me.

| Inquartata is 189. He feeds his longevity by sucking the life out of political discussions.

| Chivalry Thank you all for the warm welcomes. Courtesy is one of the aspects I like best and appreciate most about fencing. I understand, from reading Nick Evangelista, that this is not universal in today's fencing culture. But it seems so, for the most part, in the skimming I've done of the various discussions on Fencing Net.
Very nice to be here.

| Heh, the irascible, intolerant Evangelista calling kettles black. That's amusing.
Welcome aboard, tjv. But you forgot to say that you fence epee. That seems to be all but universal latterly. |

Actually, considering my speed and agility I would probably be better off learning spear.
